“Cannabis Art” Series: Niiicoco Crafts
We at Illinois News Joint enjoy artists who create custom-made products and are please to introduce a small business called Niiicoco Crafts.
Nicole Internicola, who makes custom ashtrays, rolling trays, grinders, and many other accessories, owns Niiicoco Crafts.
She started making her custom art when she found herself ashing in anything that was around instead of an ashtray.
“It made me feel messy and gross afterwards,” she said. “I felt as though if there were something that was meaningful or fun to look at while I smoked, I’d feel better after and ultimately cleaner.”
Nicole always considered herself a to be a creative person but could never place her finger on exactly what she was good at. Then she found resin art.
“I began to do research on resin and was immediately overwhelmed with all the unlimited possibilities I had,” she said. “It became something I used to express myself, and I actually think I’m good at it.”
Without formal training, Nicole has relied on hours and hours of research and a lot of trial and error.
“I feel as though the pieces I make allow a person to have a better experience while smoking cannabis,” Nicole said. “It allows them to make their smoking experience more personal.”
Like most cannabis artists, she often partakes while creating to help her get “in the zone.”
“It allows me to relax and create freely,” she said. “If I do not use it during my process, I use it as a reward afterwards. My art has helped my family to become accepting of cannabis, which they were not before. This has allowed them to take interest in the benefits of cannabis and the art it can create.”
