The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) Division of Cannabis Regulations recently launched an interactive map for active Illinois cannabis and hemp business licenses. The licensed businesses include craft growers, cultivation centers, adult-use dispensaries, medical cannabis dispensaries, community colleges, hemp growers, hemp processors, infusers, testing laboratories, and transporters.

To date, Illinois has 800 licensed businesses, but not all of them have been operationally approved. The map displays color-coded dots across Illinois for each business category. The page also lists the name, address, business type, license number, date of approved construction, and operational approval date of the businesses.

The map breaks down the total number of licensed businesses and the number of operationally approved businesses:

Craft Growers: 85 total licensed businesses with 32 operationally approved

Cultivation Centers: 21 total licensed businesses with 21 operationally approved

Adult-Use Dispensaries: 231 total licensed businesses

Medical Dispensaries: 55 total licensed businesses

Community Colleges: 9 total licensed businesses with 5 operationally approved

Hemp Growers: 54 total licensed businesses

Hemp Processors: 121 total licensed businesses

Infusers: 55 total licensed businesses with 21 operationally approved

Testing Laboratories: 5 total licensed businesses

Transporters: 164 total licensed businesses with 74 operationally approved

The Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Oversight Officer also has a map that tracks dispensary locations across Illinois. The map breaks down which dispensaries serve medical patients and which serve adult-use only. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation recently announced that entities holding an active Adult Use Dispensing Organization License may apply for a Medical Cannabis Dispensing Organization license (15-37 License) beginning Sept. 10, 2026. This map will update when an adult-use dispensary receives a medical cannabis dispensing organization license.
