The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) recently released its November 2023 medical cannabis sales totals of $25,582,066.92. November sales were the lowest since March 2020 totals of $23,397,209.38, despite serving only 129 less patients, selling 3,117 more grams of dry cannabis than the uptick-totals of October, and adding 644 new medical patients in the last 30 days.

Illinois licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 62,489 unique patients, who purchased 1,274,387 grams of dry cannabis. By comparison, in October 2023, licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 62,618 unique patients, who purchased 1,271,270 grams of dry cannabis. In November, dispensaries sold $12,052,297.62 in dry flower and $13,529,769.30 in concentrates/infused products. The current total number of active patients in the Medical Cannabis Patient Program as of October 31,2023, is 139,260, an increased of 644 patients in the last 30 days.

Total retail sales since November 2015 by licensed medical cannabis dispensaries totaled $1,935,714,304.00. Total 2023 wholesale sales by cultivation centers reached $397,763,041.06, and total wholesale sales since November 2015 by cultivation centers totaled $3,207,312,752.48. Illinois has been stuck on 55 medical cannabis dispensaries for a several years with no future plans to add more.
