News Joint Grow Journal 31: Tenzin Kush #4 x Hazy Kush by Green Bodhi
Welcome back to News Joint Grow Journal 2.0: Five Signature Strains. After rotating through the first five strains a second time, I’m back to where I started with Tenzin Kush #4 x Hazy Kush by Green Bodhi.
I left off with the TK#4xHK thriving during vegetation while sucking up nearly twice the water and nutrients as the other four plants. After I lollypopped the TK#4xHK and cracked the stems three days before flipping, the plant took off and was the first to show flowering buds in the tent.

At first, I thought the plant was going to outstretch my tent, but with some training and bamboo poles, the stretch was easier to maintain than expected. As mentioned in Grow Journal 21, the symmetrical growth of this plant was fascinating. That growth continued throughout the flower stage with four major branches that looked nearly identical shape and size of colas.
Besides low stress training the branches and propping up the heavier buds later in the flowering stage, I continued to let the TK#4xHK grow without interference. The flower growth thickened at the top of the branches and connected each bud. The smell of the TK#4xHK was consistent throughout the flowering stage. The plant delivered a heavy kush and haze aroma with a unique spicy lacquer and menthol mix in.

I chopped the plant 67 days into flowering and dried for ten days. Out of all the improvements I need to make for my next grow, I need to create a better-controlled environment for drying my plants. I dried the TK#4xHK to quickly, and though it didn’t ruin the flower, I could have done a better job.
I also need to improve my trimming abilities but am less worried about that because I’m the only one smoking it and don’t need the bag appeal. I trimmed the plant’s buds for three hours. Once my carpal tunnel syndrome inflames, I’m pretty much useless without taking long breaks. I placed each trimmed and not-so-well trimmed bud, just more than three ounces, inside a quarter-pound Grove Bag I picked up from GroUp Gardening Pekin.

Several growers had suggested I switched to Grove Bags, and I’m pleased I did. Grove Bags eliminated the time and effort of burping jars daily and allowed me to place the buds in the bag and set them in a closet and forget about them until they’re ready.
Six weeks later, I pulled out my first bud and found the buds to be well cured with proper moister and terpene retention. The buds were thick and extremely sticky, enough so that I might squish some into concentrates to test its yield.

The TK#4xHK aroma contained that classic kush and haze but also added sweet diesel and citrus notes. The bud’s flavor not only delivered a familiar kush, gas, and haze with notes of citrus but also carried a unique flavor I’m not sure I’ve tasted before in a strain. It was a mix of spice, cream, floral, and funk.
The effects had a quick onset. The head high weighed heavy around the crown of the head and into the eyes but was not sedative. The head buzz started out with a cerebral push but quickly switched to that classic haze thoughtlock or thought wondering or, if medicated enough, that hazy space glare.

The overall buzz had a push of energy that landed right in that hybrid spot, but after enough doses, the hazy thoughts became heavier and at the end of the buzz and slightly tiresome. The body buzz crept in later than most for me but once settled, the body buzz hit that sweet spot in which I am relaxed and without pain but also able for me to mobile and complete tasks (if I can remember what the hell I walked into a room for).
Overall, the TK#4xHK had made for a great evening and night smoke for gaming, binging videos, or other tasks that do not take long periods of concentration. Whenever I want to get away from cookies, cakes, and other sweet strains and go back to a classic kush/haze strain, the TK#4xHK has been my go-to.
