News Joint Grow Journal 38: Anti-Lemonade
After publishing my previous News Joint Grow Journal about my four Work Sativa strains, I decided to give a final update on each one, starting with Anti-Lemonade by Anti-Apparel (bred by Curtis Crosses).
Anti-Lemonade (Cheetah Piss) is a cross of Lemonnade and Gelato 42 and London Poundcake 97. The final dried and cured flower tested (sponsored by Grow5 Champaign) at 23% THC and 4% CBD. Throughout all stages of the grow, I used Cultured Biologix nutrients and SLF-100, sponsored by Blooms Brothers Hydro, along with Fish Shit. I flowered Anti-Lemonade under a BlackBird light sponsored by HLG.
Anti-Lemonade was the least maintenance out of the four plants. The plant grew uniformed from the start and grew dark green leaves from the end of vegetation to chop. I topped her around the sixth node and low stress trained with my fingers, creating knots along the branches as she grew out. I didn’t veg the Anti-Lemonade (or any of the other three strains) for as long as I preferred because I wanted to harvest by a deadline date.
Once flowering, the buds created branches with crowded nodes and heavy colas that needed support to keep from bending down. I chopped around nine weeks and dried for 12 days. I thought the buds were dryer than I prefer, so sweat out the buds, still on the branches, in a brown paper bag for a couple more days. I trimmed the buds and placed them in jars to cure.
The dark green and purple buds mixed with rusty pistils and a good coat of creamy trichomes. The aroma during flowering matched the buds’ with a sweet cream and diesel, along with back notes of citrus, sandalwood, fruit, and sour berries. The flavor hits with the same sweet cream and gas with back notes of citrus and fruit on the inhale. The exhale reversed the flavors with the sweet gas, citrus, and sour berries on the front end and a heavy sweet cream on the back end. The aftertaste coated the palate with sweet cream that made me want to take another hit.
The effects were pretty much what I hoped for but with even more of a body buzz than expected. The potent head high was cerebral, creative, and motivating. The head high eventually sat heavy in the eyes, forehead, and temples. The body buzz, with 4% CBD, delivered a relaxation that leveled out any raciness in the energy of the buzz and provided a relaxation starting in the neck that worked its way to the rest of the body. Once settled in, the body buzz wavered back-and-forth form a heavy blanket to a floating feeling.
The point of this grow was to stock up on Work Sativa, and the Anti-Lemonade fit in perfect with effects that I used in the morning, afternoon, and evening. For work, I mostly dosed later in the workday because the body buzz allowed me to ignore some of the chronic pain that set in after long work hours, but at the same time, the clearheaded high allowed me to complete whatever task I needed.
