Review: Black Amber Live Budder by Legacy
With 7/10 coming and going, I’ve been dabbing more than usual lately. Always on the hunt for heavy, savory options, I recently stopped at Ash & Ivy in Benton to pick up a gram of Legacy Black Amber Live Budder to review.
Black Amber is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of GMO and OG Kush Bx2, originally bred by Compound Genetics. This live budder tested at 0.11% CBDa, 2.02% CBGa, 9.6% THC, 77.36% THCa, and 89.89% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 3.23% of the total weight with limonene, linalool, β-caryophyllene, and β-myrcene indicated as the heaviest.
A mustard yellow rounded mound of pliable badder carried a thin sheen of terpy wetness across the top. Digging in with a tool revealed a sticky and pliable wet dough consistency. The budder retained both the wet sheen and texture across multiple days and dabs.
The in-jar aroma was tangy with notes of hot diesel, fermenting pickle, and sour ammonia creating a sharp top end. Underneath, notes of basil, oregano, dill, lime peel, and green tea provided an herbaceous base tone that lingered on the nose. Once vaporized, the more delicate herbal tones came to the forefront, providing flavors of roasting basil and oregano alongside richer tones of white onion and dried garlic. Despite the rich and savory flavor, the vapor didn’t linger, disappearing from the palate with the exhale.
Black Amber created a cloudy and hazy headspace almost immediately. Quiet, serene, and introspective, I was remarkably peaceful but found it almost impossible to focus. The physical sensations followed the mental shift as a wave of indica pressure ramped up in my arms and chest, relieving and loosening muscle tension along the way. Classically heavy with a body focus, Black Amber was best fit for the end of the day as my energy and focus didn’t return for almost an hour.
