Review: Colombian Haze Live Resin by IESO
Pleased to introduce a new Illinois brand to our concentrate reviews: Colombian Haze Live Resin by IESO. This concentrate, a hybrid cross between Colombian Gold and Thai Haze, was actually IESO’s entry into Cannabis Cup Awards. This batch came in at 84.45% THC and 0.36% CBD.
The aroma was a mix of pepper, lemon, and floral with hints of earthy musk. With leading terpenes of myrcene and linalool, I expected the taste to be more earthy and floral and was a bit surprised by the strong peppery lemon, until I noticed the levels of ocimene, which had to be responsible for the bold woody lemon and sweet undertones. As I’ve mentioned, flavor is not in my top criteria for enjoying a concentrate, but the high levels of ocimene, which I don’t see that often in my reviews, had added a great citrus flavor to an already complex taste.
The flavor was not the only surprise Colombian Haze’s high levels of ocimene delivered. Colombian Haze is a hybrid strain, but the effects for me were straight sativa. The strain gave me an uplifting euphoria high that allowed me to be productive during the day. The alert, creative, and energetic cerebral high kept me active and at work longer than expected. Though energetic, the effects were not racy and had an added body buzz that slowly sunk in late in the high.
I usually utilize concentrates for late at night for body aches and better sleep, but Colombian Haze was a good change for when I wanted a little more intense medication during the day but without a hard crash or mental sedation. It allowed me stay focused working at my computer and while completing physical chores. And again, as mentioned before, I prefer an indica with strong body effects that knock me out or an energetic sativa that keeps me going. Colombian Haze delivered the later.
