Review: Emerald City Kush by Bedford Grow
While I’ve reviewed the other strains from Bedford Grow’s line of playful Wizard of Oz themed Oz Kush genetic crosses, Cheese Wiz and Flying Monkeys, I finally got around to finishing the trio when I picked up Emerald City Kush from Maribis Springfield.
Emerald City Kush is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Triangle Kush and Oz Kush BX1. This batch of flower tested at 0.7% THC and 21.02% THCa.
Round, chunky flowers were yellow-green from the combination of bright turf-green flower and amber trichome frost. All remnants of sugar leaf were trimmed clean. The surface of the flower was dry to the touch but after a light squeeze still bounced back nicely.
Emerald City Kush had an aroma all its own with rich top notes of currant jam and red wine followed by a complex back end of cinnamon, roasted nuts, and cheese. On the palate, the warm red wine and roasted nuts flavors carried through followed by lighter hints of cinnamon and coffee on the finish. The aroma and flavor of Emerald City Kush were unique, delivering a profile that isn’t often found on the legal market.
Emerald City Kush struck as more of a hybrid than a full indica-style experience. Pressure hit right at my brow and crown before becoming waves that spread throughout my entire body. My mood lifted as focus waned, putting me in a happy-go-lucky state without much direction.
One indica-style trait that did come through was a case of the munchies, and my hunger skyrocketed anytime I smoked. I enjoyed the unique flavor profile of Emerald City Kush, and I look forward to sampling other forms of the strain. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
