Review: (Popcorn) Blueberry Headband by Grassroots
With increasing job losses and business closures, now might be a good time for medical patients and recreational users to adjust their weed budget.
One way to do that is to buy in bulk. Problem is that Illinois dispensaries don’t often sell more than an eighth of an ounce per container. Another way to save money is to buy popcorn (or small) buds, which often carry the same level of THC and terpenes—and often less stems as premium flower. So when Sunnyside Champaign’s menu listed 14.5 grams of Blueberry Headband by Grassroots, I took it as a sign to save more than $75 per container and purchased two.
Blueberry Headband, a sativa-leaning hybrid, is a cross between its two namesakes: Blueberry and Headband. The popcorn buds (21.14% THC) are bright green with orange pistils and covered in trichrome. Their myrcene, linalool, and pinene terpenes deliver an appealing blueberry and sweet pine aroma. The favorable flavor is a strong blueberry on the front end of the inhale, then followed with notes of earthy pine. The exhale also hits first with a fruit flavor and ends with the sweet citric pine.
Blueberry Headband delivers a smooth high, good for day and night use. The cerebral high hits quickly. Deeper in the buzz, the relaxation smoothly rolls through the body. I find the buds perfect for bong or pipe rips in the afternoon and smoking a joint at night (so, poof, there goes the budget savings!).
Grassroots, according to its website, is dedicated to growing and processing the highest quality cannabis products in Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and North Dakota.
