Review: Strawberry Infused Preroll by Terp Stix
In 2022, infused prerolls started appearing more and more on Illinois dispensary menus, and I believe 2023 will be the year that infused prerolls become the new standard. Terp Stix is a new label from 4Front Ventures bringing flavored distillate infused prerolls from California and Washington to our market. This Terp Stix Strawberry distillate infused preroll was on the menu at Mission South Chicago, so I picked one up to see what the label offered.
This Strawberry flavored distillate infused preroll tested at 19% Delta-9 THC, 15.54% THCa, 0.16% THCv, 0.28% CBCa, 0.34% CBG, 0.86% CBGa, 0.2% CBN, and 36.38% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.63% total terpenes with β-caryophyllene, α-humulene, α-pinene, and linalool as the heaviest.
The cone preroll was about three quarters of the size of a standard one-gram joint. The easy to detect distillate made for a slower burning joint with resinous oil pooling up at the point where the ash was.
The nose upon opening was sweet on the top end with a creamy berry note reminiscent of strawberry milk. Underneath that sweet tone was wet soil, grass, and a hint of cheese. The flavor carried hints of the grassy, cheesy cannabis note, but the strawberry note was obviously the main attraction, losing its creaminess from the aroma and taking on a tangy candy tone. Even as the Terp Stix burned down to its crutch, that flavored distillate continued to carry the strawberry-candy flavor.
The promise of the infused preroll is that it will deliver an experience beyond the standard joint, and that’s exactly what this Terp Stix preroll delivered. My eyelids were noticeably heavy by the time I finished the joint, and I was starting to feel a heavy physical tingle in my torso.
Eventually this became a full body euphoria that I felt throughout. My head was in a hazy fog. I had difficulty focusing on anything important and opted instead for some unproductive screen time and chocolate chip cookies.
Similar to using concentrates, the experience here was more intense than standard flower but didn’t last as long. I’m excited to watch this nascent category bloom. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
