Review: The SteamCloud Mini 2.0 Vape Pen
When I attended junior college, more than twenty-five years ago, I used to constantly carry with me a black sneak-a-toke that had a screw-on cap and a rubber mouthpiece. In the morning, I’d packed that little chamber full, and during the school day, I’d sneak off campus into the nearby wooded area and medicate between classes as needed. Back then, discretion and expediency were paramount, and my sneak-a-toke delivered.
Cut to twenty-five years later and I have found a new device that delivers the same, if not more, discretion and expediency. The SteamCloud Mini 2.0 Vape Pen from the Vape Vet Store. The baby blue SteamCloud Vapes kit comes with the Mini 2.0 magnetic cartridge battery, two metal oil cartridge adapters, a USB charging cable, one metal dab tool, and an insert with instructions and other details. The kind folks at the Vape Vet Store Vapes also included a SteamCloud oil cartridge, a wax cartridge, and an herb cartridge.
The Mini 2.0 is one inch tall, 2.5 inches wide, 0.7 inches thick, and weighs only 100 grams. Tiny and lightweight, it’s shorter than a Bic lighter and about the same thickness. The Mini 2.0 has everything I look for when I need to medicate quickly without being notice, whether between classes, during a work break, or at a family function.
The USB charging cable easily plugs into the back of the vape while standing (which allows me to keep the cartridge inside so the oil or wax cools at the bottom of the chamber instead of the side). For its size, I’m pleasantly surprised at how long the battery keeps its charge, long enough for me to pack it in my pocket and toke off a few times throughout the day. The Mini 2.0 not only is portable and compact but it also delivers everything and more a larger vape can.

One of the features I’ve enjoyed the most is that I am able to swap the three different cartridges without hassle. One battery, three cartridges ready to go. The magnetic adapter screws onto each cartridge, keeping the cartridge magnetically secured and nearly completely hidden inside the Mini 2.0. The Mini 2.0 also fits regular skinny 510 cartridge, including the live resin cartridge of Outer Space I vaped before I was able to find a refill syringe at the two dispensaries near me.
Another favorable Mini 2.0 feature of mine is the variable voltage settings that allow me to customization the temperature and better control hits for each individual cartridge. Press the power button three times and a green light inside the vape indicates 3.4V. Click three more times for a blue light and a 3.7V. And for a red light and a 4.0V, click three more times.

While smoking from the oil cartridges, I prefer to use the pre-heat feature. Click the power button twice, and the battery will pre-heat at 1.8V. Not that I’ve learned the nuances of each cartridge, I’m able to control my hits, from small tokes to huge clouds that make me cough and sweat a bit.

Oil Tank
The oil cartridges are easy to use. Because I suffer from carpal tunnel and other muscle issues, the most difficult part for me is loading the cartridge. After loaded, I screw on the metal oil cartridge adapters, slide the cartridge into the vape battery, and am to ready go. Not expecting the Mini 2.0 to hit as well as it does, I might have bit off more than I could chew the first few times, but I learned to adjust for more appropriate hits.

To check out how the Mini 2.0 worked with a different cartridge, I popped in an Outer Space cartridge to sample. I purposely vaped Outer Space because I’d recently finished reviewing the flower strain for Work Sativa reviews and am familiar with the flavor. The Mini 2.0 delivers the similar taste as the flower, especially that distinct Outer Space aftertaste. In addition, I prefer the SteamCloud oil cartridge design that includes a comfortable white mouthpiece to the round glass mouthpiece from Cresco Labs. I’m looking forward to trying more strains, including any indica with a heavy body buzz.
Wax Tank
Out of the three cartridges, I enjoy the wax atomizer the most (maybe because I’d never tried it before). Again, the dispensaries near me had a very slim selection while writing this review, and my only option was Cronut Crumble. So I loaded the crumble with the metal dab tool into the cartridge, and after a couple hits, I became an instant fan. It hit harder and cleaner than expected for crumble, and the high was an energetic burst last lasted for a several hours. The mouthpiece has a screen that keeps wax from escaping the tube, and the refill option allows me to vaporize wax, shatter, or sauce.
For this interview, the cartridge that has been in Mini 2.0 the most has been the wax cartridge, but I think if I were traveling more, I would use the oil cartridge more often because of convenience. As soon as I can find some, I’m looking forward to vaporize an indica sauce at night.
Herb Tank
The herb tank has three parts that screw apart and a screen to keep the herb from escaping. The herb cartridge took me a few times to learn how best to break up the dry herb and how much to load. Once I figure that out, I vaped G6 and was amazed at the flavor on the inhale and exhale but also at the lack of weed smell from the cloud hovering above me. Though the herb tank works great, as an old school veteran smoker, I still prefer the full flavor and smell of flower before and after it’s smoked. Then again, the Mini 2.0 allows me to vape dry herb with almost total discretion because of its size, accessibility, and lack of weed smell.

If the SteamCloud Mini 2.0 had been available in my youth, I could easily see myself popping in the oil or wax cartridge and carrying it everywhere with me, on and off campus, sneaking tokes every chance possible. While reviewing this product, I keep thinking about missing out on all the great places I could have been discreetly medicating.
