Review: Strawberry #17 by Ozone
Ascend Wellness Holdings launched its Ozone brand in the Michigan and Illinois markets last year. I hadn’t noticed Ozone products on my local dispensaries’ menus, though, until a few months ago. I have been looking for a new sativa strains to slip into my work routine, so I picked up some Strawberry #17 from Beyond/Hello Normal.
Strawberry #17 is a sativa dominant hybrid and one of those strains with a secret history, but the lab test report had it listed as Strawberry #17 x Giest OG. In any case, this batch boasted 20.86% THC levels. The darker green and purple buds were bulbous like clubs (the card suit ♣) and caked in trichomes.
From the first whiff of pepper, wood, spice, and musk, I could tell the strain was loaded with caryophyllene and humulene. The flavor was more dynamic than the smell. Along with the wood, spice, and musk, Strawberry #17 also delivered a citrus and floral blend from the prevalent myrcene, limonene, and elemene (though elemene is usually considered a ‘secondary’ terpene).
This terpene profiled provided a strong cerebral and euphoric high and a deep body buzz. I enjoyed the body buzz the most. The psychedelic and body effects crept in slowly and smoothly until I felt comfortable with the full high. The body relaxation was perfect for long hours of writing at my chair or relaxing on my recliner. The head high was euphoric and had a soft, uplifting energy to it. It was good for busy work, but I want my work sativa to have more intense energy and focus. After a few smoke sessions, I did lose focus a bit but kept the stress-free feeling.
Instead of working at my desk, I utilized this strain more for day use while cooking or watching silly television shows. I would recommend Strawberry #17 to patients who want a sativa as day medication but do not want (what I am looking for in a work sativa) that energetic and jittery buzz that pushes forward for hours. This strain should provide an uplifting and stress-reducing sativa high without the intense and sometimes jittery feelings that induce anxiety or panic attacks.
