MCBA Equity Workshop Tour set for Oct. 4
The Minority Cannabis Business Association invites the public for its Equity Workshop Tour Saturday Oct. 4. The event is set for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Industrious, located at 171 N. Aberdeen St. in Chicago. Free tickets can be reserved here.
The 5th Equity Workshop Tour includes a morning and an evening session with lunch provided. The morning session focuses on regulatory priorities, advocacy goals, and an overview of the evolving cannabis policy Landscape. This panel features influential government officials and advocates, such as:
- Solomon Hatch, Illinois Cannabis Regulation Oversight Office (CROO)
- JR Fleming, South and Westside Coalition for Commerce (SWCC)
- Belicia Royster, Social Equity Empowerment Network (SEEN)
- Mila Marshall, PhD, Herb and Planning Associates
Afternoon Session transitions to a focus on business development and networking. Attendees can engage in interactive roundtables “designed to build your cannabis business toolbox.” The sessions include:
- Cannabis Economics, facilitated by Mahja Sulemanjee: What strategies are you implementing to stay competitive? Learn from those who’ve been navigating the ups and downs for years
- Creative Ancillary Opportunities—in Illinois AND Beyond, facilitated by Carlos Ramos & Kenneth Mason: In a challenging market like Illinois, what type of opportunities exist to carve out a strong foothold in the cannabis space, particularly for small and Minority-owned businesses. Looking BEYOND Illinois, what type of opportunities exist for people in Chicago interested in looking outside the state?
- Working with Metrc, hosted by Chad Heater: This hands-on session supports entrepreneurs adapting operations and professionals upleveling skills for better opportunities.
- Collaborative Forum & “Harvest” Session wraps up the day with a clear “Action Plan.”
