On Wednesday, four Illinois bills were moved to the Cannabis Subcommittee of the Senate Executive Committee. Kimberly A. Lightford, who is one of three members of the Cannabis Committee, introduced all four bills. The bills include two omnibus-style cannabis bills and two hemp regulation bills.

On Feb. 18. Senate Bill 3377 (SB3377), a hemp-regulation bill introduced by Sen. Emil Jones, III, reached the Senate Cannabis Committee. On Feb. 25, two hemp-regulation bills, Senate Bill 3820 (SB3820) and Senate Bill 3919 (SB3919), that conflict with SB3377 reached the committee. Since legalization in January 2020, the Community College Cannabis Vocational Pilot Program has become the largely forgotten license. The Program, managed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA), was created to help prepare students for careers in the Illinois cannabis industry. The Program is scheduled to be repealed by law on July 1, 2026. Rep. La Shawn K. Ford recently introduced House Bill 4515 (HB4515), address the sunset date and other licensee concerns.
