It’s been almost three years since we reviewed the Cranberry Mandarin and Rum Runner Gems from Bedford Grow. Now, the brand has reformulated the flavors, adding minor cannabinoids and taking the standard gummies into the world of ratioed products. I recently picked up from Maribis on Denver the Cranberry Mandarin CBD and Rum Runner CBG to review.

Bedford Grow Cranberry Mandarin CBD and Run Runner CBG both come as 5-packs. Each Cranberry Mandarin Gem has 20mg of THC and 40mg of CBD while each Rum Runner has 20mg of THC and 20mg of CBG. The ingredients for both flavors were the same: sugar, corn syrup, water, natural flavoring, gelatin, citric acid, cannabis oil, corn starch, and potassium sorbate.

Each gummy was a rounded square, three-quarters of an inch across and a third-of-an-inch thick. The Cranberry Mandarin was a deep burgundy color similar to a red wine, while the Rum Runner was a golden yellow reminiscent of butterscotch candies. Both had a shiny, slightly sticky surface and a bouncy gelatin heavy texture that was closer to a dense Jell-o than a traditional gummy.

Cranberry Mandarin was sharp on the nose and palate combining the acidic bite of both namesake fruits. The cranberry outcompeted the mandarin, which only appeared as a hint of orange peel before succumbing to a bitter, herbal finish. Despite the rough finishing note, the gummy had no staying power, leaving a clean palate in its wake.  Rum Runner was a surprisingly accurate facsimile of spiced rum with notes of warm oak, vanilla, banana, and lemon. The herbal cannabis note was much less detectable in the Rum Runner.

The Cranberry Mandarin CBD took 45 minutes to kick in, slowly wiping my headspace clean of anxiety and rushing thoughts, leaving a blank space calm behind. The physical wave followed, initially leaving me with a pain free weightless sensation before turning at the peak to become a heavy, full body weighted-blanket sensation. Even as the heavy physical pressure mounted, my headspace remained clear. Rum Runner CBG acted slightly faster, clearing my mind by the half-hour mark but simultaneously boosting my mood and motivation. My thoughts flowed freely making creative or deep work much easier by simply boosting my focus, getting me out of my own head. A light wave of muscle relief helped with some of my chronic-pain points, but the bulk of the Rum Runner CBG experience was mental.
