A News Joint Thank You!
Thanks to everyone who participated in the inaugural News Joint Scholarship Fundraiser at Emerald Dispensary and Lounge Saturday, and congratulations the Mayor of Island Lake, Richard McLaughlin, for winning the Texas Hold ‘em poker tournament.
The News Joint Scholarship Fundraiser supports students attending or wanting to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale and Oakton College cannabis programs. With the donations (and committed donations) from the inaugural fundraising event alone, we nearly reached (66%) our first yearly goal of $5,000 for the News Joint Scholarship Endowment through the SIU Foundation and $3,000 for the Oakton College program, and we will continue fundraising for our 5-year goal of $40,000 (so the endowments continuously pay out each year). All information on donations will be release before the end of the fiscal year.
McLaughlin received a tournament championship trophy, a $250 gift basket from The Culinary Company, and VIP Bags packed with swag and cannabis products from and Northern Heights, Island Cannabis, Korner Boys, Pheotera Grove, Mystic Greenz, Verano, OGeez!, Dispoze-a-bowl, Crystal Clear, and more. Top winners also received VIP Bags packed with swag and cannabis products from the same Illinois brands. Top Bounty Prize was a glass bong donated by 4Front.
Donations to the SIU Foundation Scholarship Endowment can be made here at any time (place News Joint Scholarship Endowment Fund into the “Designation” box.
