Review: Rainbows & Cherries by Cresco
I’ve been searching for Work Sativa strains for more than five years now. The overwhelming majority have been citrus, chem, and fruit flavors. Rarely do I run across a Work Sativa with earthy, herbal, and wood flavors. The new Rainbows & Cherries strain by Cresco was one of those strains.
Rainbows & Cherries is sativa-leaning cross of Cherry Thai and Rainbow SS OG (TK and (OGKB and Cherry Thai). This batch tested at 28.08% THCa, 0.64% THC, and 29.51% total cannabinoids. Primary terpenes included caryophyllene, limonene, and humulene.

The buds were a mix of light and dark green with dark orange pistils and covered in milk-colored trichomes. The fox-tailed buds were dense but kept a bounce back when squeezed. Rainbows & Cherries delivered a diverse and layered aroma, like an herbal cabinet, which included onion, wood, sweet pine, garlic, wet soil, rotten fruit, mint, and black pepper that stuck to the back of the nose. The flavor focused more on the herbal spice, sweet pine, wood, mint, especially on the inhale. On the very end of the exhale, a cherry-diesel and black-pepper duo made an appearance every few puffs.
The effects aligned with our Work Sativa review series, providing a quick pick-me-up in the morning or afternoon. The head high was cerebral, creative, and energetic with mental focus, though after a few heavy doses the clearheaded muddled a bit and caused a heaviness around the eyes and temples, like a sleep mask. The body buzz was stronger than most Work Sativa, starting heavy in the arms and legs and working its way to the core. Once settled, the body buzz shifted from waves of relief to a heavy-blanket feeling.
Overall, Rainbows & Cherries allowed for a significant change in flavor profile while working during the day, which is my real preference for flavor: variety. For more Illinois cannabis industry news, subscribe to Illinois News Joint’s newsletter here.
