December 5, 2022, Altius Dispensary hosted its grand opening as one of three new adult-use social equity dispensaries in Illinois. Altius was the recipient of the third of almost 200 new adult use cannabis dispensaries set to open in 2023 and beyond.

According to Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Gasner, with such a large and busy dispensary, one of the biggest challenges to opening the new retail store was hiring and training enough knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and engaged staff.

“Now, nearly two months in, we are thrilled with our staff and how they are able to help guide our customers in seamlessly ordering and purchasing the correct cannabis fits for them,” said Gasner.

Altius is located at 993 East Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach. Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The retail store is open from 9 a.m. to to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Altius is an adult-use dispensary but offers registered medical patients 20% discount on all purchases.

Altius is woman-owned and spans 5,000 square feet. The retail store features kiosk ordering, electronic menu orders, a knowledgeable staff, branded Altius swag, and murals from acclaimed Chicago graffiti artist Brendan Cooney.

Altius translates to “Higher,” as in the Olympic motto of “Citius, Altius, Fortius” (Faster, Higher, Stronger). “The Altius mission is to provide access to a curated cannabis experience that supports a quest for higher wellness,” the Altius website states. “Our vision is to serve customers via a class-leading retail experience.”

Altius sells edibles, extracts, flower, pre-rolls, vapes, tinctures, topicals, and beverages from a wide variety of Illinois cultivators. Altius is currently the closest dispensary to Wisconsin in the state of Illinois. Altius would love to continue building its brand with additional dispensaries in the state of Illinois.
