Homegrown Review: Cookie Square Edible by John Grow #3
John Grow #3 is back with a Cookie Square infused edible he recently submitted to our partners at Origo Labs. The 2×2” chocolate chip cookie square was made with Full Extract Cannabis Oil, also known as FECO. The FECO was made out of several different hybrid strains.

What is the point of lab testing edibles? There are many reasons, but maybe one of the most important is to be able to consistently and properly dose each edible with the same amount of THC. This ensures the patient is taking the correct dose each time. John Grow #3 has matched his 50mg Cookie Square with almost the exact dosing. According to the lab test from Origo Labs, the 2×2” chocolate chip cookie square contained 56.184mg.
The Medical Results
Because the 2×2” chocolate chip cookie square is made with FECO, one of the most potent cannabis extracts, the cookie square delivers a heavy body buzz that builds slowly until it reaches a crescendo a couple hours into the buzz. The overall buzz lasts up to five-to-six hours.
The first half of the cerebral buzz is energetic, and though the head high is also heavy, patients are able to function and, for the first part of the buzz, get work done. The second half of the buzz, though, becomes heavier and sedation settles in the mind and body. This FECO infused edibles eventually delivers a night of heavy sleep and muscle relaxation.
The flavor of the edible has a mild but familiar cannabis oil taste but is less notable than homemade edibles made with cannabis flower. Otherwise, the cookie square taste like any other cookie bar recipe.
Medical Patient Homegrown vs. Cultivators
So is this Medical Patient Homegrown not as good as, as good as, or better than dispensary flower? Or is it the fire of Illinois medicine?
Though Illinois cultivators are expanding their edible lines constantly, Illinois does not yet carry a FECO infused Cookie Square. The closest product to this Cookie Square would be to purchase an RSO and place it on a homemade cookie square for similar effects. But again, John Grow #3 is making his FECO with plant leftover and trying to get every medical use possible out of his plants, and he is creating edibles at a fraction of the price he would pay at an Illinois dispensary.
Patient Growing Experience
How long have you been a registered Illinois Medical Patient? I have been a registered Illinois Medical Patient since 12/6/2019.
How long have you been growing your own medicine? I have been growing my own medicine off and on for 20 years.
Why did you start growing your own medicine? I started growing my own medicine because it was the most affordable way for me to medicate. I also grow because it enables me to not have to rely on anybody else but myself when obtaining medication. I also produce my own medication so that I can ensure that it is organic.
What do you want to add about growing at home in Illinois? I would just like to point out how easy and how enjoyable it is to grow cannabis. There’s a substantial percentage of the medical cannabis population who cannot afford the cost of medical cannabis; therefore, the state has allowed us to grow in order to make it more accessible for those who cannot afford medical prices.
