Homegrown Review: Tarmac by John Grow #1
Approaching our second year of reporting on Homegrown Reviews from patients across Illinois, it’s only fitting we circle back to John Grow #1, who kicked off this series January 5, 2021, and has supplied information for more reviews than any other patient. This time, John Grow #1 is back with another rare strain from a collaboration of two well-known breeders: Tarmac.
Tarmac is a hybrid cross of MACRib (MAC x Meatbreath) from Cannarado Genetics and Grape Gasoline (Grape Pie x Jet Fuel Gelato) Compound Genetics. Other than that, there is not much other information about the strain.
The aroma of the thick and dense buds leads with sweet fruit, gas, and earthy hops, and then adds notes of wheatgrass, sour mustard, hops, and pine. On the inhale, Tarmac carries no dominate flavor but instead delivers a mix of a sweet and sour fruit medley, earthy hops, diesel, spicy meat, and herbal funk. The exhale starts with the same mix of flavors but adds a sour grape and spicy funk on the back end.
The effects are a well-balanced hybrid that first hits with an uplifting and cerebral burst but eventually tapers off into a relatively clearheaded but calming buzz. Though potent, the head high allows for patients to function during daily errands and chores, while staying calm and relatively stress free. Not until the end does the head high’s clarity wane and become more sedative.
The body buzz, especially when in full effect, can cause a patient to become more sedentary than the head high can. The body buzz onset has a short delay before a heavy muscle relaxation crashes the body as one large wave. The body buzz builds to develop that weighted blanket feeling from head to toe.
