On January 5, 2021, we launched our first Medical Patient Homegrown Reviews with a review from John Grow #1. The first strain reviewed was Cookies & Cream #7. Since then, John Grow #1 has kept us informed about a few more strains he has grown, and now he’s back with another: Terple bred by In House Genetics.

The Homegrown Reviews is an educational review series in which Illinois News Joint showcases homegrown medicine from Illinois patients in order to better inform our readers about exactly what registered patients are growing and why they are doing it. The goal is to educate patients on the variety of medicinal benefits available, so patients can better individualize homegrown medicine for their specific needs.

John Grow #1 let’s us know Terple is a slightly indica-dominant cross of Tropicana Cookies and Slurricane #7 and take around 60-75 days flowering time. The long skinny and pointy buds are bright green with a little darker green mixed in with bright orange pistils. Heavy trichome production coats each bud.

The aroma leads with sweet floral and carries notes of citrus, blueberry, rose petal, wheatgrass, and sour bubblegum. The flavor also carries the heavy but unique sweet floral that mixes with citrus, earthy grape, spicy bubblegum, and sour hops. The front end of the inhale hits with the unique floral flavor with the rest mixing on the back end. The exhale adds a little more spicy grape and sweet citrus but then ends strong with the sweet floral aftertaste that coats the palate.

The effects are a well-balanced hybrid that hits with an uplifting and cerebral burst of happy, giggly, and talkative notions. Then the body buzz hits and sends tingles outwards, starting at the spine and into the extremities. The head high eventually becomes more even keel and relaxing as the body buzz strengthens.

Terple may be a good strain for patients who battle chronic pain with heavy body buzzes but who still want to keep a relatively clear head for daily functions. Terple also has a unique flavor profile that some flavor chasers may want to sample.
