Homegrown Review: Twistrus by Jane Grow #1
We are extremely excited to introduce our first Jane Grow to our review series! Jane Grow #1 submitted her most recently harvested Twistrus, and early phenotype by World Trade Genetics, for Cannabinoids and Terpenes tests. Twistrus is a 70%/30% indica-leaning cross between Lemon Peezy and World Trade Genetics Kush x Diesel. Lemon Peezy is a cross between Jock Horror and The KD. WTG Kush x Diesel is a more complicated cross between (The KD x Strawberry Diesel) x OG Kush and NYC Diesel.

Terpenes Test Dates
Analyzed 01/28/2021: Date Completed 01/28/2021
The Twistrus sample tested at 27.504% total THC, 0.884% total CBGA, and a whopping 32.181% total Cannabinoids (the highest of the review series so far). This terpenes profile leads with a blast of limonene (29.37%), followed by linalool (14.24%) and β-myrcene (11.30%). Trans-caryophyllene (8.75%), β-pinene (6.80%), and terpineol (5.35%) are the next three most prevalent terpenes. The strain also contains an extremely high amount of fenchyl alcohol (5.16%), as well as smaller levels of α-pinene (4.29%), α-humulene (3.65%), and α-bisabolol (2.04%).
The Medical Results
This one large colorful bud of Twistrus has several shades of green, from light green to dark pine, almost purple. The WTG Kush x Diesel lineage helps deliver a dense bud cloaked in long trichomes with dark orange pistils fighting through the array of green.

The diverse aroma first hits with a mix of citrus and smooth-lavender from the limonene and linalool, then with heavy notes of diesel and skunk on the backend. The flavor is similar. The high levels of limonene and linalool have created an interesting sweet citrus front-end taste that battles with a smooth fresh floral flavor. The aroma and flavor also mix in back notes of wood, spice, and pine. Permeating throughout all if it is the undertones of its kush and diesel lineages.

With the high total cannabinoid levels, Twistrus’ effects hits with a smooth gradually building high. The extremely high levels of limonene, though, does and interesting job of keeping the cerebral buzz uplifting and energetic during the first three-quarter of high. The more traditional indica effects take over during the backend of the buzz. Twistrus’ body buzz is a creeper, slowly building, until suddenly settling in with smooth light waves of relief. Twistrus, though indica-leaning, fits more for afternoon, evening, and lazy weekend dosing than late-night medicating for sleep. The strain also acts as a appetite booster late in the buzz.

Medical Patient Homegrown vs. Cultivators
So is this Medical Patient Homegrown not as good as, as good as, or better than dispensary flower? Or is it the fire of Illinois medicine? Because Twistrus is a relatively new, Jane Grow #1 has craftily grown a strain she can’t purchase or find otherwise in Illinois. The potency and terpenes tests blow away nearly everything on Illinois menus, and the diverse, aroma, flavor, and effects are as good or better the strain Illinois cultivators are currently offering.
And of course, Jane Grow #1 dried, cured, and trimmed her medicine with care. So, no doubt, her medicine is better and cheaper than what she can purchase at an Illinois dispensary.
Patient Growing Experience
How long have you been a registered Illinois Medical Patient? I have been a medical cannabis patient since 2018.
How long have you been growing your own medicine? Always abiding by all laws, I started growing January 1, 2020, (maybe a bit longer, but I’ll never tell).
Why did you start growing your own medicine? I began growing to offset the cost, because I consume a lot of cannabis. However, it became so much more than that.
What do you want to add about growing at home in Illinois? There is so much love and care that goes into it. Growing becomes a passion. You crave it. Your plants begin to teach you about nature and about yourself. My plants are my babies. I only wish there were no limits. Five plants is nice, but more would be nicer.
