I am Cannabis Sativa Podcast advocates for patients
“All advocacy is, at its core, an exercise in empathy,” said former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power.
Podcast host Mr. Cannabis Sativa, aka Dan Scotland, founded I am Cannabis Sativa Podcast as a peer oriented space for medical marijuana patients to share information and knowledge amongst one another.
Sativa’s platform for advocacy is an independent populist minded podcast with the goal “to never lose touch with the masses and the grassroots and to encourage the masses and grassroots to push for affordable and accessible cannabis nationwide and worldwide.”
According to I am Cannabis Sativa Podcast, in the years after finishing undergraduate studies, Sativa contracted debilitating insomnia, and after several years of failed sleeping aides and exhausting all conventional and “socially acceptable” options, he turned to cannabis to alleviate his suffering.
After medicating with cannabis, he finally was able to get a decent night’s sleep, and ever since, he has been a medical marijuana advocate and proponent with his podcast as his platform.
The I am Cannabis Sativa Podcast, out of Northeast Massachusetts, is an Indie-Populist advocacy oriented podcast that discusses cannabis news and politics as well as in-depth medical and scientific discussion of various ailments and diseases.
Additionally, Sativa holds interviews with everyday people about their medical cannabis journey, as well as discussing preferred methods of ingestion and tips on how to treat specific illnesses.
“I felt that there was a vacuum in cannabis podcast coverage,” he said. “There were plenty of news and advocacy podcasts for the plant, but none telling people how to get affordable medical cannabis, or make use of discount programs to cover or defray entirely out of pocket costs for the medicine, as this is still schedule one and not covered by insurance. I felt it was my duty to provide that need and give people knowledge that I wish I knew when first entering into the medical marijuana program to treat my chronic health conditions of insomnia, depression and chronic pain.”
Now that he is a patient and advocate of the plant, he wants to give people the resources and encouragement to make change and find affordable cannabis that he didn’t have.
“We center the average Jane and average folks in all the questions we ask,” Sativa said. “Anything that I feel would be in the best interests of our listeners in terms of pricing, affordability, and what to expect in their legal medical or adult use state. As well as holding local officials accountable.”
On of Sativa’s ideal guest would be the folks of Sweetleaf Collective in the Bay Area. Cannabis access and affordability is one of the podcast’s biggest priorities, and Sweetleaf Collective have been providing for the most vulnerable for decades.
“The ultimate goal is affordable legal and accessible cannabis for everyone that needs it nationwide and worldwide,” he said. “And a hostile takeover of Government with political that love the plant and the people that use the said plant. Kicking out reefer madness is key.”
