In part, the notice stated, “We come to you with extremely heavy hearts. Earlier today, the city of Chicago informed CineCity Studios and KVL International that they would not allow us to have the KVL Flower Ball. It was made apparent that we have had a target on our back. It is unfortunate that we were not given the courtesy about the shut down in advance and we are sincerely disheartened by this situation. We have worked diligently to adhere to all regulations to make this event an example of how Chicago can come together with purpose, grace and caution when it comes to cannabis focused events.”
For those who purchased tickets, Eventbrite will automatically send refund for tickets. The statement continues by stating, “The 1937 Group and KVL International are built upon perseverance: along with offering every person invested in the Flower Ball a refund we are working diligently to find a space to host a private event for all ticket holders so you still can have an enjoyable night with us in your Flower Ball attire!”
Brands, operators, and cannabis/fashion enthusiasts from across the United States and Canada had been planning to attend the event for weeks. KVL International and 1937 advised vendors and participants to “stay close to your email as we will be sending more information to you as soon as we can.” The KVL International Flower Ball was supposed to host a cannabis expo with multiple immersive experiences that would have been followed by a fashion show co-hosted by Power 92.3’s Money MAHA and a DJ set by the legendary DJ Nehpets.
