News Joint appears on Homegrown Cannabis Co. podcast
After spending the first couple years appearing on mostly local podcasts to talk about the Illinois cannabis industry, I’ve recently appeared on a few out-of-state podcasts, including the Homegrown Cannabis Co. podcast with host Derek LaRose, a.k.a. Kronic.
On the latest episode here, Kronic and I discussed Illinois cannabis laws, home growers, seeds, MSOs, dispensaries, and previous jobs I’ve had, which led to this quote while talking about when I was laid off from running a machine inside a heavy-metal farm-implement factory, “And that feeling (of relief) alone, I remember thinking at that moment, you got to get the fuck out of here and never do this shit again. You’re not a blue-collar worker. You’re not your dad or your grandpa who retired from the railroad. You’re not that person.”
The Homegrown Cannabis Co. podcast drops a new episode each Wednesday, which discusses the overall cannabis industry with a focus on home growing. Kronic is the Specialist Channel Manager at Homegrown Cannabis Co., and also curates The Cannabis Kronicles on YouTube.
“I believe every single person is capable of cultivating cannabis, and not just any old cannabis, craft cannabis, the best,” he said. “Cultivating your own plants is not only great financially, it’s very rewarding mentally…I want to tell the world how growing cannabis can be easy. I want to help the beginner, to give them confidence, to help them become self-reliant. I want everyone to become cannabis producers rather than cannabis buyers.”
Homegrown Cannabis Co. is a seed bank and educational outlet that collaborates with Kyle Kushman, Steve DeAngelo and Swami Chaitanya for blogs, tutorials, and other information about growing cannabis. For grow journals in which I grew Homegrown Cannabis Co. seeds, click here.

As another teaser quote, I also said this about my preference for sleep hours for work and school, “I spent so many hours in my life just mentally figuring out how not to get up in early in the mornings.” Check out our Media Page for more News Joint podcast appearances and weekly News Joint Wrap.
