Review: 1906 Drops by Ascend Wellness
Illinois has so many new cannabis products launching that reviewing them all has been difficult to keep up with. Recently, Ascend Wellness launched its new 1906 Drops, so while at Ascend Springfield on Horizon Drive, I got my hands on a sample pack.
The 1906 Drops are six formulations in pill form that combine moderately dosed cannabis with targeted plant medicines. 1906 combines carefully selected pesticide-free cannabis with vegan and gluten-free plant medicines. According to Ascend, the 1906 Drops are named for the year the Wiley Act (also known as the Pure Food and Drug Act) was voted in, effectively starting the era of cannabis prohibition. Ascend’s website states, “We are on a mission to bring cannabis back to its pre-prohibition status as a mainstream, widely used medicine for the greater good (and the greater fun).”
The six formulations include Genius, Love, Midnight, Go, Bliss, and Chill. The Genius and Love drops contain thirty pills per tin and each drop comprises of 2.5mg THC/2.5mg CBD each. The rest of the formulations contain thirty pills per tin and each drop comprises of 5mg THC/5mg CBD. My sample packs contained 2-4 pills of all formulations but the Chill Drops.
The first characteristic of the drops I noticed was the quick onset. Unlike traditional edibles, the patented lipid microencapsulation process allows the effects to act within twenty minutes. For me, it was within ten minutes. The other benefits of 1906 Drops were the accurate doses and consistent effects, and of course, I always enjoy discreet cannabis products in any form.
We have a review series called “Work Sativa,” so naturally I enjoyed the Genuine Drops the most. The Go Drops were better for later in the evening when I wanted a quick pick-me-up during that lethargic time before cooking dinner. The Bliss Pops were perfect for arts and crafts on the floor with a special family member (while listening the Illini and Bears game).
When I dosed the Midnight Drops, I was already exhausted and fell right to sleep. I should have sampled the Midnight Drops on a night when I knew I would have a more difficult time falling asleep. But this review already had been taking too long and I’d been so exhausted every single that I hadn’t need late night medication.
I do sample every single product that I review to best inform our readers. But the Love Drops are a product I’m going allow our readers to sample for themselves without a personal anecdote from me. No one needs that trauma.
Overall, I considered 1906 Drops to be “enhancer” medication. They better enhanced whatever I was already in the mood for. Want to feel focused but medicated at work? Take a Genius Drop. Want to add to a caffeine buzz for an extra pick-me-up? Try a couple Go Drops. Want to better enjoy a simple afternoon of relaxation? Pop some Chill or Bliss Drops. Feeling frisky? Share the Love Drops. Ready for sleep? Midnight Drops.
