Review: Acapulco Gold by Grassroots/Curaleaf
I have to admit I didn’t know much about the strain Acapulco Gold. I supposedly tried it years ago, but who knows what the strain really was back then. So when I saw a gram of Acapulco Gold by Grassroots on Curaleaf Mokena menu, I took a break from the newer dessert strains and went with a classic to add to our Work Sativa review series.
Acapulco Gold originated in Acapulco, Mexico, and is a sativa-dominant hybrid with an unknown lineage. This batch tested at 20.74% THCa, 0.14% THC, and 22.05% total cannabinoids.

This one-gram of flower came as two thumb-tip sized buds and one tiny nug. The bright pine green buds were dense and thick with dark orange pistils. The aroma hit with a sweet earthiness combined with tea, pine, and notes of citrus.
The flavor added more citrus and pine with notes of creamy coffee on the inhale. The exhale carried more earth, wood, pine, and hints of a floral sweetness. There also was a nuttiness that floated in and out of the flavor.

The effects fit our Work Sativa series with a motivating and energetic cerebral buzz matched with a creeper body buzz. Though motivating and focused, the long-lasting head high also had a smoothness that continued throughout the high.
Early in the buzz, I didn’t think Acapulco Gold had much of a body buzz, but as mentioned, the body effects crept in much later. I’d also describe the body buzz as soothing and smooth instead of heavy. Once the body buzz was in full effect, it seemed to extend the head high with it.

Overall, Acapulco Gold definitely fit our Work Sativa review series with a strong and uplifting cerebral buzz combined with a soothing body buzz that allowed me to work for hours with focus and motivation.
