Review: Apple Gummies by Tales & Travels
For the last year, Revolution’s spin off brand, Tales & Travels, has been allowed to stand alone with exclusive strains and product lines. I recently stopped at Enlightened Mt. Prospect and spotted the first edibles I’ve seen from the brand, the Get Down Apple Gummies, so I picked up a bag to review.
Tales & Travels Get Down Apple gummies come as a five pack of gummies with 20mg of THC per gummy for a total of 100mg per pack. The ingredients are tapioca syrup, sugar, water, cannabis extract, palm kernel oil, pectin, natural flavors, citric acid, sodium citrate, sunflower lecithin, salt, beta carotene (color), and spirulina (color).
Five slightly translucent lime-green cubes, each an inch across, carried a scored cross at the top that allowed me to tear each gummy into four smaller 5mg squares. The exterior carried a layer of gritty sugar crystals to prevent sticking. The gummies were softer than a traditional pectin gummy, putting up very little resistance to the teeth and providing a juicy mouthfeel on the chew.
The top end of the flavor profile was a tangy artificial green apple tone that reminded me of the classic Jolly Rancher flavor. The flavor turned slightly but not overwhelmingly bitter as it left the palate, revealing the infused nature of the candy. There was some stickiness to the overall flavor with the bitter aftertone holding on longer than any other notes.
The flexible dosing option combined with the 20mg standard size made it easier to head for the higher doses that I need, and I appreciated the ability to medicate without having to eat a big bag of candy. The buzz set in after a standard 30-minute wait with a mental shift that boosted my mood but tightened my awareness and headspace. Cheerful but hazy, a physical buzz followed the mental change, leaving me with waves of tingling that reduced my overall inflammation and pain for the better part of two hours. Overall, the Get Down Apple gummies were a straightforward edible with a flexible and interesting dosing option.
