Review: Blackout by Bedford Grow
After we reviewed Ophelia, I picked up from Maribis Grandview in Springfield one of her parent strains: Blackout by Bedford Grow. Archive Seed Bank originally bred Blackout, which is an indica cross between The Black and Rare Dankness’s Face Off OG.
This batch tested at 21.67% THCa, 0.53%THC, 0.13% CBD, 0.31% CBGa, and 22.64% total cannabinoids. The leading terpene included β-myrcene, limonene, and β-caryophyllene. The three most prevalent secondary terpenes included β-elemene, α-pinene, and linalool in nearly equal amounts.

The dense dark popcorn buds had to be grinded, which let loose a slightly different aroma than the canister. The canister smelled of hops, spice, mint, and citrus. The broken down bud’s aroma added a stronger pepper to the spice with added hash plant, pine, and incense.
The flavor was similar with peppery citrus on the front end and an incense and spice on the back end of the inhale. The exhale was filled with floral hops and pine on the front end and a peculiar sour berry on the backend. The sour berry often was in the background of each the inhale and exhale.

The name Blackout applied more to the physical effects than the mental. The head high was more cerebral and euphoric than expected. During the first half of the buzz, my mental state stayed relatively focused and happy. Meanwhile, the body buzz built and built in waves.
Eventually, toward the end of the buzz, when the body high had surpassed the head high, the effects became more mentally sedative. I dosed with Blackout late at night at first but switched to late evenings. The more and faster I dosed the quicker the sedative effects came. Blackout also boosted my appetite after each evening of use. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
