Review: Bloom Ztrawberriez #12 by The Botanist
I mentioned my love of strawberry aroma and flavors in cannabis and my desire to see more of the profile on the market in my recent review of Strawberry Bubbles. Thankfully, The Botanist has more than one “strawberry strain” in its new genetic lineup. I picked up the label’s Bloom Ztrawberriez #12 to see how it stacked up.
Bloom Ztrawberriez #12 is a hybrid cross of Orange Zkittlez and Strawberry Guava originally bred by Bloom Seed Co. This batch of flower tested at 0.58% THC, 28.54% THCa, and 30.14% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were β-myrcene at 0.65%, limonene at 0.61%, and β-caryophyllene at 0.51%.
Three large buds, chunky near the base but reaching out into a point at their apex, carried a bright lime-green-base tone, clumps of curled orange hairs, and a dense trichome frost that brightened the base further. The flower was dry to the touch but left a stickiness on my fingers when broken down.
A bright and sweet aroma carried sweet strawberry candy, blackberry, papaya, and lemon, followed by a tangy hop note at the finish. Where The Botanist Strawberry Bubbles evoked fresh unripe natural strawberries, Bloom Ztrawberriez carried a sweet artificial candy version of the fruit. The flavor was less overtly sweet on the palate with a more rounded fruit blend of strawberry, blackberry, and lemon, followed closely by a rich earth tone that provided the finish.
Bloom Ztrawberriez struck as a mid-spectrum hybrid with a fast onset of mental playfulness and openness, accompanied by a slower moving physical muscle relaxation that unfolded over the course of 30 minutes. My energy levels remained stable throughout the experience, and the open headspace persisted for a couple hours after my bowl. Bloom Ztrawberriez combined a strawberry candy flavor profile with an anytime relaxing high, and I’ll be looking to try this one again.
