Review: Blue Dream by nuEra
Almost two decades ago, I knew nothing about cannabis genetics other than experiencing two types of effects: one with creative, motivation, uplifting, euphoric cerebral highs and one with thought-numbing sedation that made me feel unmotivated, dumb, and lazy. Blue Dream was the first strain name I learned and asked for (but rarely found) because I preferred its effects to everything else I’d been smoking. Even though I had not smoked Blue Dream in more than a decade, legalization in Illinois has now made finding the strain as easy as stopping in nuEra Urbana for an eighth of Blue Dream by nuEra.
Blue Dream is sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Blueberry and Super Silver Haze. This eighth tested at 28.084% THCa, 0.505% THC, 0.4501% CBGa, and 29.039% total cannabinoids. Primary terpenes included 0.831% β-mercene, 0.466% α-pinene, 0.208% limonene, and 0.194% β-caryophyllene, which helped reach total terpenes of 1.699%.

The eighth consisted of two thumb-size colas and a handful of smaller buds. The buds were light green with darker green leaves mixed in and a coat of cream-yellow trichomes. The aroma hit with a sweet fruit and berries on the top end with slight back notes of sugary pine, peppery haze, and floral earth. The flavor added to the sweet fruit, berries, and pine a smooth butter cream, citrus, and pepper that coated the exhale.
The effects were as I remembered from my first experience with Blue Dream. The head high kicked off with an uplifting and happy boost of energy that put me in a good mood. The clearheaded high was creative and energetic but without any raciness. Blue Dream kept me motivated and focused on my tasks, which of course fit our Work Sativa series.
Once the body buzz hit full effect, it balanced the overall buzz into a relaxing chill but kept the motivation and overall happy-go-lucky feeling. With more doses, the body buzz became heavier and relief for my tension and muscle aches blanketed my body in heavy waves. Overall, the experience made me forget how much I enjoyed Blue Dream, and now, I want to grow the strain in my own tent.
