A few cultivars have stood the short test of time and remained available since the beginning of the Illinois medical cannabis market. Green Thumb Industries’ Brownie Scout by Rythm has been capturing attention since 2015 but has somehow escaped our review series—until now. I recently stopped into Rise Effingham and picked up an eighth to review.
Brownie Scout is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Platinum Girl Scout Cookies and Kosher Kush. This batch of flower tested at 0.63% THC, 28.96% THCa, and 29.59% total cannabinoids.
This eighth came as four medium-sized pointed flowers. Pale green with some small sugar-leaf remnants, these buds were highlighted by tight bunches of dried fire orange hairs and small splashes of purple. The trichomes were dense and visibly milky, sparkly when held up to a light.
The aroma inside the jar was a sweet and earthy mix of freshly turned soil, dark chocolate, black pepper, and cream. The flavor carried the same dense mix over to the palate with the dark chocolate and black pepper coming through the heaviest. Brownie Scout is known for its potent indica experience, and this batch was spot on. A blanket of heaviness fell over my body before the end of my bowl and continued to send waves of pressure throughout for the following half hour. This strong physical presence was accompanied by a hazy, unfocused mindset that released the day’s stress but made me unable to do anything productive.
