Review: Bubba’s Girl by CAM
I’ve mentioned the enduring power of classic savory-cannabis flavors in previous reviews, and Illinois newcomer CAM from Pharmacann came to the state prepared. I recently picked up at Verilife Romeoville an eighth of Bubba’s Girl, a Bubba Kush offspring from the new label
Bubba’s Girl is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of ‘98 Bubba Kush and Girl Scout Cookies. This batch of flower tested at 1.19% Delta 9 THC and 28.02% THCa. Terpenes were 4.11% of the total weight with β-caryophyllene, limonene, and β-myrcene being the heaviest.
Four pointed buds with a chunky, irregular structure carried a bright turf-green base. Flecks of black and brighter-green sugar-leaf remnants were shrouded by a dense and strictly milky trichome frost and dull rust colored hairs that had curled into the surface. Sticky on the initial touch and breakdown, these flowers carried a dense sticky structure at the core that took some real muscle to push through my grinder.
Savory then sweet, the layered aroma inside the jar was noticeable as soon as I popped open the lid. Notes of garlic, earthy mushroom, roasted meat, scallion, and cocoa provided a rich top end before sweeter tones of lavender and cream cut through, cutting off the savory layer and providing the finish. The lavender and cream combination came to the front of the profile, while the savory flavors receded into the background as an earthy and roasted blend.
Bubba’s Girl delivered a heavy classical-indica buzz with a slow creep-up effect that took up to fifteen minutes post bowl to fully unfold. A tight headband accompanied by an all over feeling of warming pressure melted away any muscle pains from the day. A clouded awareness and hazy headspace detached me from my anxieties, leaving me peaceful and thoughtful with a lean towards introspection for more than an hour after smoking. Overall, CAM delivered on both classical effect and flavor with Bubba’s Girl, and I look forward to finding the strain in other formats.
