Review: Bubble Hash by Realeaf Botanicals
While live resin and rosin have captured most of the cannabis world’s attention, a large following for old-school hash still exist. I was excited to see craft label Realeaf Botanicals release a Bubble Hash, so I recently stopped at BLOC Metropolis and picked up a gram to review.
This 1-gram bubble hash tested at 73.4% THCa and 75.38% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 4.65% of the total weight. A small round puck, just larger than a peanut with a clear thumb-shaped indentation on the top, had a cracked cocoa brown exterior. Cutting into the center revealed a creamier blonde tone just beneath the surface. Initially, the interior had a slightly sandy crumble but quickly became oily and malleable when warmed between my fingers.

The scent inside the jar contained a surprising amount of depth despite being light overall. Layered notes of pine tar, cut cedar, cacao nibs, freshly turned soil, wildflowers, and, surprisingly, fresh cut apples. A steady bubble was achieved underneath a flame, unleashing the pine, cacao, and fresh soil from the aroma but also accompanying flavors of sharp lemon cleaner and heavy floral perfume. The widely varied flavor coated the tongue and clung to the palate for several minutes, inviting continued exploration even after the bowl was gone.
Slow to build, the high continued to creep up for almost a half hour following my sesh. Initially, the headchange was energetic and playful, infusing me with a childlike irreverence and making me quite talkative. The body buzz slowly displaced the energy and transformed from a light floating sensation to a strong and heavy weighted-blanket sensation that left me couchlocked at the peak. Overall, Realeaf delivered a classical hash product with a heavy hitting flavor and effect profile.
