Review: Caribbean Sunset Pod by Airo
Airo has been releasing new products and limited editions so frequently that it’s been tough to keep up. I did manage to grab the brand’s summer-limited release, Caribbean Sunset, just as the season wrapped up.
The Airo Caribbean Sunset pod contained a distillate-based oil infused with botanically derived terpenes. This batch tested at 84.446% THC and 86.409% total cannabinoids, promising a potent experience.
Airo’s proprietary battery system was bulkier than a typical 510-thread battery—think more permanent marker than pen. It features a simple magnetic-snap connector and a distinctive nonagon shape when viewed from the top. There were no buttons or settings, a simple draw to activate mechanism, and a USB port at the bottom for charging. One novel feature was the vibration feedback when I took a hit, which adds a subtle, enjoyable touch. More importantly, the Airo allowed for deeper draws than the standard 510 pens, even though it still had a similar timed shutoff.
The flavor profile opened with a sweet, artificial burst of blueberry lemonade, followed by a tropical-fruit blend of mango, papaya, and a touch of pineapple. A slight chemical bitterness appeared at the finish, but the overall taste leaned heavily into the fruity side. The vapor was light and disappeared from the palate almost instantly, leaving no lingering aftertaste.
A tight pressure settled around my eyes and arms almost immediately, quickly followed by a spaced-out and dazed headspace. My thoughts scattered in different directions, making it hard to stay focused. As my body grew heavy and my attention drifted, a wave of tiredness hit, clearing my mental space and leaving me calm and sleepy. My energy levels returned to normal by the 45-minute mark with the entire experience taking no more than an hour.
