Review: Chem D Live Rosin by IC Collective
I said years ago that the lack of gas and chem-heavy flavor options on Illinois menus was a true opportunity for a cultivator to stake a claim. IC Collective has done just that with a genetic lineup of cultivars heavy on gas and chem. I picked up a sample of IC Collective Chem D Live Rosin to review.
Chem D is a hybrid strain believed to be a descendant of the original Chemdog strain. This batch of live rosin tested at 1.03% THC, 79.55% THCa, and 80.58% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 3.66% of the total weight with β-caryophyllene, limonene, and α-humulene being the most prevalent.

A messy mound of creamy, caramel colored badder carried a thin, high sheen layer of moisture across the surface. The texture was lively with a bounciness that landed somewhere between petroleum jelly and grape jelly. The Chem D rosin was the easiest concentrate texture to work with a standard tool and easy to dose out.
The aroma was heavy on the gas, but repeated exploration revealed a surprising amount of nuance behind the top notes of hot fuel and sour citronella. Freshly turned wet earth, humid forest, green bell pepper, cracked black pepper, lighter tones of lilac, and wildflower honey all came and went beneath the gassy top notes. Vaporization carried through the notes of citronella, freshly turned earth, and black pepper from the aroma while the overall profile was brightened by notes of sweet peppers and wildflowers on the finish.
Chem D was highly flexible, landing truly at the center of the sativa-indica spectrum. A clearheaded and motivated buzz was accompanied by a satisfied serenity, an overall “everything will be alright” mindset. My energy levels remained steady as the physical experience was limited to a simple release of my muscle aches and pains. Chem D was great for getting me out of my own way mentally but not so energizing that I couldn’t enjoy a sesh before bed.
