Review: Chem Krush by IC Collective
I’ve always believed that old-school flavors are an untapped goldmine in the Illinois cannabis market. IC Collective seems to shares that vision. ICC’s strain portfolio is rich with Chemdawg and Sour Diesel crosses, offering a nostalgic nod to classic genetics, so I picked up the Chem Krush to review.
Chem Krush is a hybrid cross of Chemdawg 91 and SFV OG. This batch of flower tested at 0.46% THC, 29.86% THCa, and 30.14% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 2.73% of the total weight with β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, limonene, α-humulene, and α-bisabolol being the most prevalent.
The weight of the eighth was distributed across four nugs, one roughly twice the size of the just-larger-than-popcorn other three. The base color was a consistent bright-lime green with thick rust-colored hairs reaching out from the surface. The hand trim left a few clinging sugar leaf pieces that showcased the dense and solidly milky trichome layer that further brightened the buds. Dense when being broken down or ground, these flowers left a light hashy greasiness on my skin.
An inhale from the jar provided a layered blend with a tangy opening of chemical diesel, hot steel, overripe plum, and fig. The back end was a richer and earthier combination of wet slate, fresh cut cedar, butter, and humid forest. The tangy diesel top note was even stronger on the palate, providing the entirety of the inhaled flavor profile. The exhale carried the same slate and humid forest from the aroma but with a hot chemical twist that created a skunky flavor. The entire profile was very sticky, leaving a hot skunk and diesel note on the palate and in the air after smoking.
Chem Krush induced a strong body buzz, initially wiping away my chronic pain with a warm-overall pressure but then transitioning to a euphoric tingle focused in my chest as the experience peaked. Mentally, my focus sharpened as my running train of thought was calmed. On the back end of the experience, a noticeable positive and optimistic mood set in every time. There was no post high crash, and my energy levels were consistent throughout the experience making Chem Krush a good fit for anytime of day.
