Review: Crisp Apple Tonic Fizz by PTS
Earlier this month, I noticed a lot of excitement about a new cannabis-infused drink coming to Illinois in the summer of 2021. I too got excited about the possibility of more options of infused drink in Illinois. The new drinks were touted as cannabis-infused carbonated drinks for socializing, as if drinking bar cocktails. But you don’t have to wait until summer of 2021 (though I can’t wait for new products). I’ve been drinking cannabis-infused drinks during small social events for months.
As mentioned in my review for Progressive Treatment Solutions’ Tonic drinks, I have been mixing the Tonic flavors with carbonated drinks. Most of the time, I’m mingling with others who are drinking alcohol. When I want a “ready-to-drink” carbonated tonic, PTS already has a few on Illinois dispensary menus I can choose. I picked up a four-pack of PTS’s Crisp Apple Tonic from NuEra Urbana.
Each 330ml-carbonated seltzer contains 25mg of THC. The drinks do not include sugar or calories and are made with 100 percent natural flavor. The flavors come in Crisp Apple, Black Cherry, Grapefruit 1:1, and Lemon Lime 5:1.
I’m not a huge fan of seltzers, but I found the Crisp Apple’s taste refreshing and a good change from the flavored Tonic. The 25mg is a good dosage for anyone wanting to drink one before bed or for drinking a four pack throughout the night. I don’t, but I know others who will mix in a bit of alcohol with the seltzer.
As with the Tonic drinks, the Crisp Apple’s onset is quicker than eating edibles but does not last as long. A cerebral buzz starts in the head, and a body buzz quickly follows. I have been enjoying them during family game night, watching television, and just overall relaxing. I also medicate with tonic drinks for a quicker onset to fight inflammation and pain. After sampling my first infused drink, I have stockpiled a steady of supply of them in my refrigerator. PTS’s Crisp Apple was a good change, and if I find the Grapefruit 1:1 on a menu, I’ll probably try it as well.
