Review: Don Shula Preroll by Cultivate/Ieso
I love to see Illinois cultivators releasing new strains, especially when they’re completely new to me. Ieso’s Cultivate label has dropped a list of new genetics we’re sampling right now, and I was instantly intrigued when I saw at Consume Carbondale the name of the half-gram Selfie Preroll Ieso had released, Don Shula.
Don Shula is a hybrid cross of The White and Diagonal (True OG x East Coast Sour Diesel). This preroll tested at 24.96% THCa, 0.59% THC, and 25.55% total cannabinoids.
This half-gram Elements paper-wrapped preroll burned clean and evenly. The aroma from the preroll tube was notably strong with garlic and cheddar notes leading the way, impressive for a preroll.
The flavor carried those heavy tones well with garlic and cheese appearing alongside fresh cut cedar and black pepper on the top end. The finish was notably fruitier. I detected notes of elderberry and grape.
The effect profile of Don Shula fell squarely in the middle of the indica-sativa spectrum. I noticed the head effects open first with a playful and talkative headspace opening up as I smoked. The physical effect profile from Don Shula was light and didn’t start to send tingles through my body until after I had finished the preroll. Even when they did hit me, I never found them overpowering or distracting from the conversation.
I must admit that I usually come to all prerolls (especially half grams) with some doubt, but I could see a nice place in my summer schedule (on the way to dinner, evening concert) where a ready to burn, easy going hybrid shortie would really enhance things.
I’m excited to try the other forms of this strain and a few of the other new Selfie releases from Cultivate. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, click here.
