Review: Fizz Lemon Lime 5:1 Seltzer by Tonic
While I’ve designated 2023 “The Year of The Infused Preroll” for Illinois, I’ve already got some indications that 2024 is posed to be “The Year of The Infused Beverage.” While the cannabis drink options in the state continue to expand, Tonic, the label from Progressive Treatment Solutions, has been focusing on drinks for years. I recently stopped into Consume Marion and picked up a sample of the Lemon Lime 5:1 Fizz to see what it offered.
Tonic Fizz Lemon Lime 5:1 is a 12-ounce sugar-free seltzer containing 25mg of THC and 125 mg of CBD. The ingredients are carbonated water, natural flavors, CBD, pure cannabis oil, gum arabic, flavor modifier, citric acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, and stevia.

Pouring with a light carbonation, the seltzer was a bright milky white that reflected light well, making it almost glow in the light. The flavor fit with the seltzer market, a lightly sweet note of faint lemon at the front end, while the backend carried faint characteristic herbal bitterness of cannabis oil. The flavor was very light on the palate, and I could have enjoyed more than one easily.
Effects were noticeable at the 30-minute mark, opening with a blunted mindscape that seemed to shut down every time I started an in-depth train of thought. Physically, I felt light overall, as the inflammation in my joints disappeared. This physical sensation stuck with me much longer than the mental blunting, as my mind opened up and allowed me to think clearly at the hour mark.
The physical relaxation was the longest-lasting portion of the effect profile, sticking with me for the rest of the day, while the cerebral effects moved on quickly, especially for an edible. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
