Review: Flan by Cresco
While I complain about dispensary-menu strain names looking more like bakeries than weed shops, I still enjoy a few dessert-moniker strains. I stopped at Sunnyside Champaign and found my latest taste, Flan, from Cresco and picked up an eighth to review.
Flan is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Dosidos and Mochi. This batch of flower tested at 0.7% THC, 26.49% THCa, and 27.19% total cannabinoids.

A handful of popcorn buds carried a solid lime-green throughout while a few fire-orange hairs peeled out from the core of the flower. The trichome frost glittered in the light, having just started to transition from clear to milky. The buds bounced back quickly when pinched and left a slight hash-style greasiness on my fingers.
The scent was dense. A blend of fatty butter and uncooked-bread dough created the front end. The nose then turned spicy and herbal with black and red pepper, thyme, cedar, and dried basil leading into a finish of hot diesel gas. The flavor brought the butter, black pepper, and thyme notes to the front, making for a smooth but savory hit. The flavor did not have a lot of staying power and disappeared from the tongue quickly.
Flan was instantly calming, shifting my mood towards an anxiety-free optimism and placing a headband of pressure on my brow. The pressure expanded downward into the rest of my body, relieving muscle tension along the way but making me feel heavier and requiring some more deliberate movement. The headspace remained relaxing and peaceful throughout the experience. Flan was notably long lasting with noticeable effects, even at the two-hour mark.
