Review: Florida Orange THCa Powder from Revolution
By @Medsforheads
Variety is the spice of life, especially for daily cannabis users settled into a reliable regimen, but truly unique experiences can be few and far between on dispensary menus. For this reason, I considered myself lucky to have snagged a gram of Revolution’s Florida Orange THCa crystalline powder from Greengate Chicago while I had the chance.
I made a point to keep this gram jar in its packaging when not in use to avoid attracting concern from passers-by, since the substance bore an uncanny resemblance to hard drugs. Though labeled a live resin product and ostensibly extracted from fresh-frozen flower rich in terpenes, this 93% THCa isolate retained essentially none of the original plant’s particular effect profile or taste (oddly enough, it did have a very faint orange scent).

What the snow-like extract lacked in entourage effect, it more than made up for in potency and usability, adding an element of excitement to medicating sessions on its own or paired with another form factor.
The fine THCa crystals had a minimal impact on the burn of a joint when sprinkled throughout the flower, but by the roach phase struck me with a concussive blow that put me in a dissociative punch-drunk daze. I also reached the same destination with an 8-second cold-start dab of the powder alone, just much more quickly. The solid THCa melted and vaporized rapidly under the heat of the torch and left no residue in the banger other than a small clear puddle at the bottom.
After running through the gauntlet of ways to use this product and coming up with zippy names for each, I decided my preferred two methods were “sugar-coating” a dab of budder and “snow-capping” a bowl. Both were hearty, fortified experiences but the latter provided the bonus visual treat of watching the powder melt and resolidify in a shimmering layer, making the ground bud underneath appear frozen over.
When I was through experimenting, I tossed the remainder of the gram into a high-terpene sauce and made a delicious DIY “snowcone” that, surprisingly, dabbed smoother with the additional cannabinoid content diluting the intensity of the terps but preserving every bit of flavor.
I recommend this product to any regular smoker who could use a little extra once in a while, especially dabbers who are partial to saucy extracts and want to mop up the last dregs of liquid resin with a dash of crystal dust.
