Review: Fox River Chem by IC Collective
Despite claiming the 3rd largest legal cannabis market in America, Illinois has relatively few “signature” strains. IC Collective is helping right this wrong by naming of one of its first drops, Fox River Chem, after a tributary of the Illinois River.
Fox River Chem is a hybrid Chemdog cross. This batch of flower tested at 0.47% THC, 24.58% THCa, and 25.05% total cannabinoids.

Two large cola tips and a small popcorn piece carried a uniform lime-green base tone, accented by some deep-forest-green sugar-leaf remnants, wispy outreaching orange hairs, and a glistening milky trichome frost. IC Collective has drying and curing skills that exceed many Illinois cultivators. Every bud I’ve sampled from the brand has been a well-balanced, spongy flower with a Nerfy bounce back.
Several distinct layers of aroma hit as I opened the jar. The first led with a hint of chemical diesel tang, followed by notes of rose and lavender, then a rich base of unsweetened dough, cream, and earthy wet slate. The flavor was carried well by the quality dry and cure with rich smooth smoke, carrying much more tangy diesel than the aroma and accompanied closely by the cream and wet slate notes.
Fox River Chem struck as a middle-of-the-road hybrid with a wide-open awareness hitting by the end of my bowl and an overall body lightness that felt like floating. As my awareness increased, my focus dwindled making for some spaced-out moments as I chased tangents in my head. Fox River Chem was a good “lunch break” weed with no long tail to the effect profile and a simple clearheaded relaxation by the hour mark.
