Review: Garlic Breath 2.0 by Northern Heights
While the list of savory strains available at Illinois dispensaries has continued to grow, candy and fruit heavy options still outnumber them by a heavy margin. Craft label Northern Heights by Oregonix has stepped in to offer Garlic Breath 2.0 to satisfy consumers looking for heavier options. I recently stopped at Emerald Dispensary and Lounge in Island Lake and picked up an eighth of Garlic Breath 2.0 to review.
Garlic Breath 2.0 is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of GMO and Mendo Breath. This batch of flower tested at 0.44% THC, 25.25% THCa, and 27.13% total cannabinoids. Top indicated terpenes were β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, and limonene.

Two larger Christmas tree shaped bugs provided the majority of the weight with a few smaller sub-popcorn pieces making up the remainder. The surface was a blend of leaf green and lilac purple with a dense network of stringy fire-orange hairs and a generous dusting of visible milky trichome heads. The buds were soft and spongy leaving a light stickiness on my fingertips.
The scent from the bag was a deep blend of roasted peanuts, sage, tea tree, leather, forest floor, musk, and hot rubber. All the layers seemed to be hitting the nose at the same time, requiring some exploration to suss out individual notes. The flavor was much more direct but no less savory, providing a mix of roasting meat, mushrooms, and cooking barbecue, The flavor was very sticky, leaving an earthy meat and mushroom mix behind after exhale.
Garlic Breath 2.0 had a solid “clean slate” effect on both my body and mind, clearing my anxieties while killing any muscle tension or pain. As the experience progressed a tightening pressure in my core and legs left me tired. Mentally, I remained relaxed but unmotivated for the better part of an hour.
