Review: Garlic Z by Island
According to a recent report by Pistil Data, more than 220 brands are on the Illinois market, much less than the neighboring legal states. The good news is that the number continues to grow every week. One of the newest brands is Island, brought to the state by 4Front. I recently picked up a sample of the Garlic Z to see what the label is bringing to the state.
Garlic Z is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of GMO and Zkittlez. This batch of flower tested at 0.1% CBDa, 2.08% CBGa, 0.39% Delta 9 THC, 33.91% THCa, and 36.48% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 2.25% of the total weight with limonene , β-myrcene, β-caryophyllene, linalool, and α-humulene being the heaviest indicated.
Inside the jar, I found one large cola tip, one slightly smaller top bud, and a few popcorn nugs. Bright-lime-green with a smattering of small dried fire-orange hairs, these flowers carried ambering trichome frost and some deep forest green sugar leaf remnants.
The scent was pungent with top end notes of freshly harvested garlic, lemon, dried hops, wet slate, and hints of sweet candy on the finish. The flavor turned the savory and sweet combination on its head with the sweet candy notes appearing first and the garlic, slate, and hops coming in on the finish. The blend of candy and garlic was unique and reminiscent of overripe melon.
Garlic Z created a fast acting and strong wave of relaxation in both my body and mind. A haze overcame my headspace, and I found myself lost in thought and spaced out several times after smoking. Physically, a heavy weighted blanket style pressure sat on my body initially, but as time passed this lightened up becoming a weightless sensation.
Garlic Z provided a strong, long lasting experience that was best suited for night. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here. To learn more about cannabis-friendly events in Illinois, visit here. For more Illinois cannabis industry news, visit here.
