Review: Gas Station Sushi by Cresco
While some cultivators use the Illinois High Times Magazine People’s Choice Cannabis Cup as an opportunity to showcase new genetics, some cultivators aim for the gold by entering well-known blockbusters. Gas Station Sushi by Cresco has already made a name for itself on dispensary menus, but now it’s time to put it head-to-head with the rest of the competitors. I picked up for this review a gram of Gas Station Sushi as part of the High Times Cannabis Cup Sativa Flower Kit.
Gas Station Sushi is a sativa-leaning hybrid cut of OGKB, a cross of High Octane OG and Kush Mints (Rabid Hippie Cut). This batch of flower tested at 0.88% THC, 29.85% THCa, and 30.73% total cannabinoids.
This gram came as a single large and dense flower top carrying a bright-lime green undertone, a matrix of thick, fuzzy orange hairs that had dried to the surface and a few small purple splotches at the points where sugar leaves had once been. The trim was close and left a rounded bud and an exposed milky and sparkling trichome layer.
I opened the jar to a dense aroma of sweet mint, diesel, cotton candy, cream, and rich funk. The multi-faceted aroma seemed to change each time I returned to the jar and was hard to pin down. The flavor carried the earthy funk, cream, and diesel, but the sweet tones of cotton candy and fresh sweet mint were wiped away, leaving a rich and savory blend only broken up by the tang of diesel.
Gas Station Sushi was a euphoric experience both mentally and physically. A boost of energy paired with a wave of optimism and playfulness made me more sociable and put a smile on my face.
Physically, tingling waves moved throughout my body. The long tail of the experience was a long-lasting clearheadedness that remained with me for hours. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
