Review: Gems Gummies by Bedford Grow
Bedford Grow recently launched new edibles, and of course, I had to review them. While at Dispensary 33, I picked up one of all three flavors of the new in-house made Gems. Gems came in Rum Runner, Cranberry Mandarin, and Lavender Honey flavors.
The glass container of Gems included five gummies. Each gummy, which was larger than other tradition gummies, contained 20mg of THC. All three flavors were hybrids. The ingredients (sugar, corn syrup, water, natural flavoring, gelatin, citric acid, cannabis oil, cornstarch, and potassium sorbate) delivered the expected texture of a chewable gelatin-based gummy.
The most interesting flavor was the Rum Runner Gems. Rum as a gummy flavor was not expected. The aroma hit with a rum-like smell as soon as I opened the container. But the taste of the gummy was sweeter than expected. Along with the “Jamaican rum,” the aroma delivered a sweet fruity banana. The taste reminded me of eating from a variety pack of old-fashion Christmas hard candies as a child and discovering a flavor that was definitely different than the rest.
The aroma of the Cranberry Mandarin consisted of a sweet zest mixed with tart cranberry and hints of grape and mandarin orange. The taste delivered a sweet cranberry on the front end and the tart citrus on the back end.
The aroma of the Lavender Honey provided lavender and sweet flowers on the front end with a honey and spice on the back end. The flavor hit with a consistent sweet lavender and honey.
For the first time in a long time, I had to wait for the onset of gummies to kick in. Usually, I feel the effect of edibles earlier than others. I had to wait more than half an hour for the effect to build.
Once in full peak, though, the Gems gave me more of a cerebral high than other gummies. The body buzz also was effective for late-night relaxation, television binging or music listening. For a hybrid, I found these Gems to have some energy to them for at least the first half of the buzz. Late in the effects, the energy waned, and I was able to have a good night’s sleep after dosing each time.
Overall, the Gems were stronger than other gummies with 20mg of THC in each, so it was easy for me to take two, maybe three, for stronger late-night pain relief. For those of us who prefer macro-dosing to micro-dosing, the Gems work well.
