Review: GG4 by PTS
The rapid evolution of the legal cannabis industry is nothing short of astounding, considering the century of prohibition that preceded it. GG4 debuted only nine years ago but has already become regarded as a staple classic cultivar. As someone who has had the pleasure of trying GG4 in various forms and markets, I am always thrilled to experience its heavy-handed effects. Recently, I came across the Progressive Treatment Solutions, version of this strain at Consume Marion and eagerly picked up a sample to see how it stacked up to my past experiences.
GG4 is a hybrid cross of Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel. This batch of flower tested at 0.45% CBGa, 0.77% Delta-9-THC, 19.86% THCa, and 21.08% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.85% of the total weight with limonene, β-caryophyllene and a-terpineol being the heaviest.
Filling the jar were several large, fluffy, forest green buds. There was a light “dusting” of bright white trichomes and a substantial amount of leftover yellow and green sugar leaf. Squeezing the buds showcased the fluffy, almost styrofoam like texture. A run through the grinder produced a fluffy product with a pleasant discernible stickiness to the touch.
Rich and savory, the aroma from the jar carried notes of fat, roasted meat, peanuts, and cocoa. This batch of GG4 was much more expressive on the palate than the nose with additional notes of vanilla, cedar, and finishing highlights of prunes and pear mingling with the fat and roast from the scent. Fans of savory flavors will be well served as the “meaty” characteristic is well represented throughout.
GG4 was a primarily physical experience initially, providing a tingling euphoria at my core that continued to grow into the famous weighed down “glue” sensation the strain is known for.
As the physical aspect built, my headspace became hazy, unfocused and I didn’t want to do much other than crash on the couch for some mindless TV. GG4s reputation precedes it and PTS has produced a classical example of the fabled strain. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
