Review: Grape Ape Briq by Select
It can take a lot of experimentation (and cash) to find a product a consumer truly loves at a dispensary. That’s why many consumers stick with the same product once they find a favorite. Select’s new 2-gram Briq vapes attempts to serve these folks by offering an expanded oil tank, which should help space out dispensary stops. I recently picked up the Grape Ape Briq Vape from Curaleaf Skokie to see how it stacks up.
The Select Grape Ape Briq Vape is a THC distillate-based oil infused with botanically derived terpenes. This vape tested at 0.23% CBD, 77.8% THC, and 83.98% total cannabinoids.
The Briq hardware was small sitting entirely inside the palm of my hand. The one-by-two inch black-plastic rectangle had a small visibility window on the side for tracking the oil level and a USB-C port at the bottom. Hitting the vape activated a small light ring near the top, as well as the oil visibility window with a bright-yellow glow. The battery was long lasting enough to survive a couple days of consistent use, and I could have gotten through the entire 2-gram allotment with only one charge.
The flavor was artificial-grape heavy, accompanied by notes of blueberry and hints of gas on the finish. As the cart burned, the top end lost some sweetness as the gassy backend gained ground on the palate. While the flavor did shift, it never became burnt or roasted and remained easy to vape.
The Grape Ape Briq was slow building with a couple hits relaxing my brow and knocking out some surface level anxiety. Multiple strong pulls created a heavier full body buzz complete with waves of indica-style pressure. There was a calm clarity to the mental space no matter how large the dose, but a long tail of low level tiredness sticking with me for the hour following big sessions with the vape.
Overall, I enjoyed the Briq hardware and I’m happy to see producers experimenting with larger oil packages. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
