Review: Grape Jubilee by Kaviar
At the end of a long day, a heavy indica lulling me off to sleep is really hard to beat. During a recent stop at Star Buds Burbank a budtender told me about Grape Jubilee, one of the more indica-leaning strains from Kaviar’s new releases. Intrigued, and hoping for a good night’s sleep, I picked up an eighth to sample.
Grape Jubilee is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Cereal Milk and Berry Bubba. This batch of flower tested at 1.02% CBGa, 1.138% Delta 9 THC, 24.323% THCa, and 26.481% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 3.1% of the total weight with limonene, β-myrcene, β-caryophyllene, and eucalyptol being the heaviest. This was the first jar of Kaviar flower I had sampled that came with a QR code on the jar leading to a full Certificate of Analysis, a move I applaud anytime I see it.
Seven small popcorn-sized buds carried a bright turf-green base tone with dried-orange hairs and tiny purple splotches adding highlights. The structure seemed to reach out in every direction with multiple sharp points on each flower. The trichomes were visibly milky but shrouded by sugar leaf remnants. A pinch between the fingers revealed a very dense texture that put up a lot of resistance.
An inhale from the jar carried a sweet-leaning blend of blackberry, artificial grape, and sweet cream first, with richer tones of cedar wood, black pepper, and moss filling in the finish. Despite the dense nature of the flowers, there was still enough moisture content to create a smooth hit, even with large rips from the bong. On the palate, the sweet berry and cream were the heaviest tones, but the flavor was light overall and disappeared quickly post exhale.
Grape Jubilee undoubtedly lived up to its indica listing with a strong physical pressure setting in soon after the finish of my bowl. My eyelids became heavier and a strong weighted blanket sensation pressed into my chest as my awareness closed in. My hunger kicked into high gear every time I smoked Grape Jubilee, and if it was late, the strain was a solid night cap option.
The flavor profile was straightforward and consumers looking for a heavy indica buzz would be well served by Grape Jubilee. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
